We’re being inspected!

The time has come for us to be inspected by the Care Quality Commission. It’s been nearly three years since CQC came and checked that we were doing everything we need to do to provide the brilliant service you expect, so the CQC inspection team will be coming along in the next few weeks to make sure that we are still meeting all the required standards. If you want to see our last report from November 2022, at our old address in Denmark Road, it is available on the CQC website here.

In order to protect patient safety and well-being, the UK Government has made it a legal requirement that all independent health-care providers - such as hospitals, doctors or clinics - must be registered with the relevant inspection authority. Their website (here) says:

You need to register with the Care Quality Commission or Healthcare Inspectorate to run an independent health care service (e.g., private hospital or clinic) in England and Wales.

To operate an independent health-care service such as a private hospital or clinic, you need to register with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England or the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales (HIW) in Wales.

Ear Matters is a regulated clinic, which means that we must adhere to specific standards set by the regulatory bodies, including being safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led. We only carry out earwax removal if you as the patient request it and we consider it clinically necessary and appropriate. As well as our license to operate a clinic, we as healthcare practitioners, are also regulated by professional bodies such as the General Medical Council (GMC) for doctors or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) for nurses.

It is important that you, as our patients, have confidence that we provide you with a truly professional service that you can trust, so as soon as the result and report is available, we will let you know and post a link to the latest report so that you can read it for yourselves.
