At Ear Matters Exeter we’re passionate about providing the highest standard of ear wax removal using microsuction for clients in Devon at a local treatment room or in your own home.
We’re Joanna and Rebecca, senior practice nurses with a combined experience of over 50 years in nursing.
We share a passion for providing a holistic approach to patient care and delivering this with warmth and compassion.
Seeing first hand how debilitating a loss of sense of hearing can be, we find huge reward in being able to rectify this with a relatively simple procedure, as do our patients!
Also acknowledging that the journey itself to a clinic can be a huge ordeal for some, We’ll happily visit you in the comfort of your own home, putting you at ease with our friendly and caring approach.

Hi! I’m Rebecca.
My background is in Critical Care and Accident and Emergency. I’ve worked in large trauma centres including Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and Derriford Hospital in Plymouth. I also spent three years working as the Senior Nursing Officer on board luxury cruise ships; providing care in unique and often remote settings. This enabled me to pursue my love for adventure and travel. When at home, I’m kept busy with my young daughter and we love to keep active as a family.
For the last five years I’ve been working in the community as a Practice Nurse, where I especially enjoy being able to build relationships with patients and believe in providing care with a holistic and personable approach.
Hi there! I’m Joanna
I qualified at Westminster Hospital in 1987 and have worked as a Practice Nurse for over 10 years. I have also worked as a theatre sister and an Intensive care nurse. I’m a Mum of three and a keen gardener. My special interest is in caring for the elderly, I’m a trained Dementia Champion, with first hand experience of living with both my parents with Alzheimer’s which was an experience that brought a lot of joy to me.
I believe Ear care should be offered to patients by medically trained practitioners, and I have been trained by Rotherham , known to be the Gold Standard in Ear Care

Microsuction Treatment
Ear wax is gently and safely removed using a small, sterile suction device . We’ll begin by taking a detailed history and carry out a full assessment and examination of your ears. If wax is present and microsuction suitable we’ll discuss the procedure through and answer any questions you may have.

Ear Assessment
We’ll carry out a full assessment and examination of your ears. If there isn’t any ear wax to remove, or microsuction isn’t suitable, we’ll provide ear care information and advice. We also utilise the latest in micro camera technology, which allows us to provide images of inside your ear should an onward referral to your GP be required for further investigation.
