June Soundings

June sounds different from every other month. The mornings begin earlier, carried in on birdsong before the sun has properly risen, and by midday the world feels alive with movement. Listen for lawnmowers humming across neighbourhoods, the lazy buzz of insects in warm grass, and the sudden cheer of people making the most of longer evenings.

Near the coast, waves seem gentler in June, accompanied by gulls crying overhead and the distant laughter of families gathering on beaches. Parks fill with the slap of tennis balls, picnic chatter, and music escaping from portable speakers. Open-air cafés grow louder too, with clinking glasses and easy conversation drifting into the streets as daylight lingers well into the evening.

Thunderstorms often arrive dramatically in June. Listen for heavy stillness before the rain breaks, then the deep rumble rolling across the sky before everything smells fresh again. In the countryside, fields sway quietly beneath warm breezes while tractors continue their steady work late into the evening light.

June is a month that feels fully awake. Every sound carries warmth and energy, from windows thrown open at night to footsteps wandering home after sunset. It is the soundtrack of summer beginning to settle in, confident and bright, with endless evenings stretching ahead.

Can you hear all those contrasts? If they are starting to become a little dull and merge into one another, or perhaps even disappear, that might well be because earwax is blocking or partly obscuring your ear canals. We can quickly check your ears and remove any wax that is causing a problem, or refer you for a hearing test if that is appropriate. Don’t delay and live in a soft, dull world or hearing any longer.
